About the author

Angel Figueroa is an assistant professor at Josai International University in the Department of Intercultural Studies (Chiba, Japan). Research areas include Latin American studies and salsa music in the fields of ethnomusicology and popular music studies. As a DJ/event organizer, he has more than 25 years experience in the Japan salsa scene. He also hosts the show/podcast 'Encanto Tropical' on World Salsa Radio.
